| I think 70% of the problem with Bat III is comprised of two psychological factors: the title and the sense of wasted potential that kicks you in the spleen while listening to the record. It COULD have been much better, it really could have. I think it is actually a pretty solid, eclectic rock album, but it is impossible to listen to it and separate oneself from the sense of how much better it could have been, even without Jim. I mean, literally, even with the exact material they had to work with, it could have been executed much better. Which is why the other 30% of the problem is Desmond Child. I was behind the choice of Des to produce originally, in Jim's absence, optimistic because I liked his work with Alice Cooper previously. But he ended up being a horrible choice. But back to the point: whoever legitimately thought that "Cry Over Me" belonged on this record, or ANY record, should absolutely not be working in the music business. And whoever chose it as a single should not be allowed to hold any job with a shred of consequential decision-making power. > Everything on bat 3 sucks. It is as bad as midnite.
