| My understanding is that public figures often release information about things like heart surgeries because they want to control how the information is communicated in order to minimize dangerous speculation and hurtful nonsense. In other words, if Steinman went in to have a little surgery and is recovering nicely, he wants to make that clear before Meat Loaf tweets something to make everyone think Jim's dying. Meat's alarmism will have less effect, spook Bat Musical investors less, and cause less pain and frustration to Jim's loyal following if Jim just sets the record straight from the beginning. Should Jim or anyone else have to do this? No. I think Meat's tweet probably unintentionally forced the situation and he no doubt regrets it. I've certainly authored a tweet or too I'd take back. At any rate, I'm troubled and saddened to hear about Jim's health woes. You know you're getting a little older when your rock hero needs heart surgery. If you really have had surgery, Jim, please get better soon! | |
