That article is so badly written it's difficult to work out exactly what they're trying to say. I assume, like you, they are trying to say that ONLY women and gay men within a 10 year age range like the song. However what they, just about, actually say is that ALL women and gay men that are too young to have been into the Village People like the song.
Sorry for being pedantic but when part of your job is proof-reading documents things like this really irritate you.
And isn't a show like "Glee" on dangerous ground when making fun of things only women and gays like.
