| LOL. That is a really bad line for sure. Right up (down?)there with "Dead man walking the wire, high above the Devil's Net that's made of fire" from "Alive" on Bat III. Those are the kind of awful lines you get when someone tries to write a "Meat Loaf" song. And these lyrics come from some popular misconception of what a "Meat Loaf" song is, which of course what they are really writing are bastardizations of what people think a Steinman song is. That said, I really enjoy "If I Can't Have You." Its a very infectious, confectionary pop rock song. Equal parts hard rock and bubble gum pop. And I love the drums! There was an interview up on Youtube where Meat talked at length about HCTB on, I think, German TV, and what struck me is that Meat praised the living shit out of John Micelli's drum work on HCTB. "Because somebody let him play," Meat said. (I guess that means that no producer before Cavallo had "let" John play on a record. Wouldn't Meat have some input there?) But anyway, I agree 100%. The drums on HCTB strike me as stellar. And I'm no musician and I rarely even notice drums beyond the fact that "yep, there's the drums." > I feel quite let down by whoever wrote the lyrics: > > "I'll stay trapped inside my hell, where it's so hot that > my walls melt" > > "one. *nudge* | |
