He's not classical standard (whereas Steve Margoshes is) but I think for rock n roll he's pretty good (8/10).

Don't forget that his real genius is melodies & lyrics, and I think developing piano skills become secondary (once you reach a decent enough standard).

I think Jim has also admitted that for recording he is 'rough around the edges', hence using Roy Bittan/Margoshes over the years.

However his live performance of Objects (Hudson Theatre 1993) is exceptional, and far superior to the studio version.
