I was surprised when I read the credits and he *wasn't* The concept album is interesting. A fair bit of it isn't produced by Steinman however. The Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, Sounds Of Blackness and Michael Ball contributions are absolutely tremendous. Those are moments that are worth buying any CD for. However... The CD is ruined for me because of Donny Osmond's lame-ass rendition of "When Children Rule The World" (does anyone have that interview circa 2002/03 where Osmond trashes Jim's music? I have never forgotten it!), The Everly Brothers who (interestingly) Steinman didn't have any involvement with whatsoever on THAT track and Boy George, yeech. The album conflicts with the brilliant Steinmanian majesty, inherent from "Tanz" and the Bats, to the pop conformative rubbish (in the style of the "Starlight Express" 1987 concept album, another piece of shit, IMO, but a RARE piece of shit LOL!) of Webber and Wright's productions. You'd be best to download it from somewhere then turf the bits you don't like | |
