I don't know. Nothing from the "Dead Ringer" album was as successful as this song or "Total eclipse of the heart". For all we know, if Meat had recorded the song it might have fallen into the same black void that the "Dead Ringer" album did. In other words, Meat wouldn't have played it because he thought it was a reminder of some terrible time in his life, and in that case it would be another one of those beautiful Steinman songs that has been forgotten about.

Think if "Total eclipse" had met that fate. It almost sounds awful.

I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Personally, I've never really believed the story that Meat was originally going to record those songs.

If the story really is true, the record company must have shouted the biggest "Awww bum!" the day those two songs reached the top of the charts.
