| For the most part Google Earth does not use sattlite images anymore. They tie into State's GIS department, at least in the US. I know cause thats my job - GIS - and homeland security throws towns and states a ton of $$$ to build mapping networks - The stuff that the public doesn't have access to, will scare the fucking shit out of you. Including Traffic cameras in NYC that scan the faces of people crossing the street and run it through face regognition software, all connects to police and homeland security through a Secure Fiber Optic Network. Imagine google earth - only being able to highlight / map terrorist cells or innocent people who the goverment accidentally flagged as terrorists.
