Everytime someone adds information, one of their information checkers takes a look at it and if there is no reliable source given (see EvilNicknames post above), it is removed. Anything that is altered or removed is also checked. One has to give valid reasons for editing an existing page. I'm sure that misinformation does end up on Wikipedia but at least they make an effort to make it accurate. Try adding info without a reference and see how long it remains.
