I would say the people that should be accredited for PoP is Ray and Jim, if you want to be pedantic. Nobody should be allowed to put there name to anything that is not there’s or take accreditation for something that doesn’t truly belong to them. Just creating a 'cleaned up' version of an old track doens't give me that right either. That wasn't the reason why I was disgruntled. > Secondly with reference to this comment Ray had given > me permission to play with the track and come up with my > own rendition, but alas, now this has happen it has set my > plans back. > > Why should that have set you back? I for one look forward > to your rendition of the song, as I'm sure most others are > as well. > > Pud Firstly, when the original of something comes out, usually trying to come up with a rendition of it never usually goes down too well. (take TEOTH just for an example, the poor song has been done to death and I still prefer Bonnie/Jim’s original….lol). The piece usually gets scrutinised and compared so closely to the original that the whole take on the rendition is muddied. Well that’s my opinion anyway. Secondly, Ray permitted me to ‘play’ with PoP for a school project piece on the proviso that he got a copy of the final product and it was not used for any other purpose. If the version was ever to be heard it would be at Ray’s discretion nobody else’s. Sorry, but that was a promise I made to Ray that I will be keeping…. My original post was writen out of the disappointment of having something ‘special’ in your possession then having somebody seemingly take it from you, or pull the rug from under you before you had finished with it. My bad, I try not to trust so open heartedly and will try and keep my emotional outbursts to myself next time....lol *big sigh* But alas, being true talented Steinfans as you all are I’m sure it wont take long for some of you to sit down behind the keyboard/piano and try belting it out this newly found long lost gem and creating your own versions. Good luck it’s a fantastic dramatic piece.. Do it justice and choose a good vocalist...lol :-) Jaycee | |
