| I've come across the same thing on the bootleg sites i use. I think it stems from the fact that bootlegs are fan recorded from the audience, usually a reasonable recording, but when compressed further into mp3 they worry about sound degredation. I seem to remember reading an article about mp3 whereby it said that the compression algorhythms used remove only the frequencies inaudible to the human ear. It's very difficult to spot the difference between an original cd and one made from mp3'encoded at 320k. > > > > There is a world of difference in the quality between 192k > > and 160k and if you cannot hear it, i suggest a hearing > > test. > > I suspect if anybody had the wave files , they would have > > been posted by now, the best we can hope for is mp3 at the > > moment. > > Being active with p2p since napster, my experience is that > > most people (i know) do not bother with anything less than > > 192k as the sound is shit (usually). > > > > Exactly. > > My friend runs the tracker in a Pink Floyd community.
