I think "DOTV" is a > very different creature. There are three scripts from "Dance of the Vampires" that are in circulation at the moment. The first one is the May 10 script from 2001 where Krolock sings "The Red Badge of Love" and "Hey Ho Professor" is still in, although in a much different context. The lyrics in this script are the closest you'll come to the Michael Kunze script that is being mentioned here. The second one is the August 11 script from 2001, sometimes referred to as the "Chelsea Script", but I do not believe this script was actually used in that reading. It was probably the other one. This is the script that is the most widely known. "God has left the building" actually has a few lyrics, and "Invitation to the Ball" is completely out of control. It's an insane medley with titles like "Sometimes we need the Boogeyman," "Read my apocalypse" and "Everything goes well with black". Also, at the climax, in the ballroom scene, Krolock transforms into a terrifying monster and the castle is destroyed. This is my favourite version of "Tanz" or "Dance" ever. I love the German original but this would have been brilliant in English, with just a few small changes, e.g. "Carpe Noctem" should moved back to Act Two. The third and final script is a haphazard compilation of all sorts of drafts, possibly compiled for the stage manager during previews? But it is referred to as the previews version even though there is a much earlier date on the front page (There are different dates all over the place if you look through the script.) It's all very fascinating to study. I think they had it just right in August 2001 but then they ruined it from then on.
