The video for "I'd Lie For You" was much the same. The opening shot of that video is actually the closing shot of the video for "I'd Do Anything For Love". But it wasn't directed by Michael Bay and the theme, this time, was an action adventure movie, like "Indiana Jones". I thought "Anything For Love" was fantastic but they overdid it with "I'd Lie For You". There were so much going on, from what I remember, that I got distracted from the song (Which doesn't really matter for me, anyway, because I thought it was an imitation of "Anything For Love".) Tragically, during the making of the video for "I'd Lie For You", I believe that a couple of stuntsmen were killed. I don't remember where I read this now but I'd never heard of the incident before and I haven't heard much about it. Personally, I liked all of the Michael Bay videos, but "Objects In The Rear View Mirror", for me, was the weakest. When I listen to the opening verse of that song, it's a motorcycle or car accident, like "Bat out of Hell", and not the helicopter accident from the video. But, promotion wise, the videos were spectacular. Meat Loaf wouldn't get this treatment these days. And it's nice to know that Angelina Jolie appeared in the video for "Rock And Roll Dreams" before she was famous, and Robert Patrick, T1000 from Terminator 2, was in "Objects in the rear view mirror". | |
