They couldn't have done that because those songs had never been released, and I think that was the problem. ALL of the songs on TMIL had already been released, like "It's all coming back to me now" was released twice, "Bad for Good", "If it ain't broke break it" (The full version, "Only when I feel", wasn't in "Wuthering Heights", remember), "Seize the night" (that was part of a musical) and "The future ain't what it used to be" (released in the US through the "Wuthering Heights" soundtrack EP). And as for the new songs, I remember that Meat Loaf wasn't allowed to release those, but in the settlement he was granted permission.
