| Here are some pulp art examples from Rafael DeSoto, the guy that did the illustration of the Woman with guns and handcuffed man's hands around her neck, used on the inside tray (US) or back cover (UK) of Welcome To The Neighbourhood. Notice that this guy is a professional commercial artist. Able to design to a spec, not just a navel-gazing fantasy artist that pleases him or herself. As a result, the final compositions using DeSoto's work are nothing short of beautiful. Really beautifully resolved. Where exactly did Michael Whelan and Julie Bell THINK the text was intended to go? Bat 1 has tension in all the right places, and calm in all the right places. Bat2, VBO and TMiL just have shit bumping into each other and large expanses of nothingness, and no respect at all for the type.
