Lady Gaga's "Edge Of Glory"/ She Must Be Influenced By Jim

Elva and I were watching the finale of American Idol and Lady Gaga performed her new single "Edge Of Glory". I thought, that sounds like someone who has been influenced by Jim. I wound it back and asked Elva if she could hear that Lady Gaga sounded like Bonnie Tyler during the last chorus and Elva could hear what I was going on about. I can now understand why Jim thinks Gaga could sing "Safe Sex". Also, some of her costumes (not the one made out of meat) look like outfits that Jim and Asher Levine might come up with. Actually, someone on this board posted a You Tube link of Gaga singing and playing piano while still at university and the style was quite close to Jim's. I don't think she will ever be quite the master of songwriting that Jim is but she could sing his material and I'm convinced that she is sometimes influenced by him. Its difficult for some people to hear because of the disco beat. However, there is not a consistent disco beat throughout the latest single. Gaga's "Born this Way" (the single) borrows from Madonna and "Edge Of Glory" borrows from Jim. I am convinced of it.

Oh. I have just looked at your board to see if anyone has posted about "Edge Of Glory".

A poster called "RepeatandFade" has posted a review of the new Gaga album that appeared in his local newspaper. It says: "It's there, but "Born This Way" (the album, not the single) is more likely to evoke memories of a different over-the-top '80s pop singer: Bonnie Tyler. Lady Gaga's heart never goes into total eclipse, and she's not exactly holding out for a hero, but there are moments on many of these overstuffed pop songs where she shoots the works as melodramatically as Tyler ever did."

I'm so glad to read this. Nobody can accuse me of going mad.
