By hiring the right publicist, Jim could be a lot more famous, but I don't think he wants it. I think he favours the 'mysterious svengali' image that he's nurtured for years?
Don't forget he is not really a performer, but a 'behind the scenes' writer, and as such, probably more well known/respected than most (songwriters).
If and when he has some 'product' to sell, I imagine the publicity will ramp up?
