Yes you can if you feel that is what is needed.
You have aready made the realisation of what could be the crux of your problem.
If you feel you have a problem with your behavior and ignorance, work on improving that first.
You never know your circle of 'Friends' or aquaintences will change and you just may end up finding that someone special who will treat you right, because you have treated them right.
