Heroes has a plot that keeps moving, cool special effects, and a latent mystery that we slowly get more of. The dialogue is what you would expect from something based on a comic book style, which is sad because comics have outgrown that substantially.
Other than that, I don't know. I'm spoiled by Lost which, though it often meanders, has usually well-written dialogue and is superbly acting. In terms of polish, Heroes isn't even close to Lost.
That being said, I really enjoy watching the show every week. It's just not something I'm going to show my children.
