| In this month's Q magazine (Dec'11), the (5 star) review of Florence & The Machine's new album, 'Ceremonials', mentions Jim. In talking about Florence Welch (the artist) & Paul Epworth (the producer): 'To their credit, the pair have really gone for it, too: Ceremonials is a huge, overblown record, like something from the mind of a modern Jim Steinman, the Wagnerian talent behind Bat Out Of Hell, among others. It piles layer upon layer, strings upon strings, upon synths and pipe organs, guitars, that omnipresent harp and thunderous, echo-chamber drum armies'. I really liked that description. Paul Epworth is one of my favourite producers at present. Not only did he produce Adele's great 'Rolling In The Deep', but also songs on Florence's last album, 'Lungs'. Check out 'Dog Days Are Over' (at the link). | |
