Perhaps it's a generational thing. I'm sure if I was around when BAT OUT OF HELL was released I'd consider it the superlative statement in Jim's oeuvre, but because I was 18-21 when he shared those demos online (around 2005-06), those latter songs mean so much more to me than even "For Crying Out Loud". I truly cherish "Still the Children", "An American Elegy", "Speaking in Tongues", "Body", "(Vespers) Angels Arise", etc., more than anything else, they're the most feeling songs I've ever heard.
