I actually think you might be right about that :-(
Thinking back to the incident it sort of burped and farted a few times before it finally died. So Im thinking its a short somewhere that took out the power supply.
The house has been visited by a few field mice of late and a friend said it happened to him once where a mouse crawled into his equipment and shorted his system out. Possibility I guess.
I bought the desk from a friend who only had it for a year or so and hardly used it, hopefully it is still under warranty... fingers crossed.
