What were the problems in Washington?

Apparently a lot of people blamed Hal Prince for the negative reviews. I'm not sure if that's fair or not. I have heard that Hal didn't get on very well with Jim and other members of the creative team.

BTW, I thought that No Matter What is ALW's most successful single ever (and it is) but I now find out that it's the most successful single from any musical ever.
