Having been a Nightwish fan for ages myself, I think that Imaginaerum is by far the very best album they've ever done, probably one of my favorite albums ever. Boy, I didn't expect it to be that good and was totally surprised when I first listened to it ... in fact, I listened to it about three times in a row that night. Somehow, this is really an album that is best listened to in completeness, rather than only listening to one track or the other. The same holds true for me when it comes to Bat Out Of Hell, BTW. ;-) Dark Passion Play ... well, the title song is one of Nightwish's best if you ask me, and "Meadows Of Heaven" rules so much that I've had ideas about having it played at my funeral if I ever die (which, I guess, I will ... but hopefully not any time soon! ;-)) The other songs on that album ... well, good but not that outstanding. Once is probably their album that I like the least, even though "Ghost Love Score" is one of their very best songs, if you ask me. The older albums differ somewhat in style from the newer ones above, but I still really enjoy them. My favorite, after Imaginaerum, is probably Century Child. As for Tarja vs. Anette vs. Floor: Tarja really rules! A lot of people where unhappy with Anette, but at least on the albums I had no problems with her - I didn't have a problem with the new voice and changed style. Floor ... well, I've also always been a fan of her former band "After Forever" (which not longer exists, but had a really great album called "Invisible Circles") and I really like her. I'm very sure that she performs better live than Anette although I've so far seen neither of them myself. However, what I'm really looking forward to is the next studio album of Nightwish. I think Floor's voice will just fit perfectly with the band, and I'm really curious if they can deliver a record that can match or even exceed the brilliance of Imaginaerum! :-) | |
