Now certain people knew that Anne and Juliet were one and the same but it wasn't widely known to the extent that it is today. People in general who knew about the case had no idea. When Pauline and Juliet were released from prison, they changed their names and they were never heard from again in the media. For a long time it was a mystery as to what had become of them. But when "Heavenly creatures" was released, Anne got exposed. I don't think it was meant to have happened. They found Pauline three years later living in Scotland, I seem to remember? She eventually moved away. There was a reporter who came to the house which was old and lots of ivy, and this lady answered the door, and the reporter started asking her questions but she told them they'd made a mistake as they'd got the wrong person. But it was really her. I can't remember right now if the movie talks about Pauline's dreams of owning a horse. Well, in real life, that dream came true. Pauline was a horse instructor. Pauline also helped disabled children. The community were quite shocked to find out what had happened in her past. She just seemed like this kind old lady, if a bit eccentric. At one point, Pauline wanted to be a nun. It was fascinating reading all of this. She's very repentent over what happened with her mother. Meanwhile Juliet ended up becoming a published writer beginning with her book "The Cater Street Hangman" published in 1979. Anne Perry's books are still widely available. She's still writing and publishing to this day. I do not believe that Pauline and Juliet have ever crossed paths since 1954. I've also read that Pauline would not be interested in seeing Juliet. One can't help but wonder though what that meeting would be like. How odd that Anne Perry is > signing books after what she did to that poor woman. It > would have been interesting to see what happened next. They lied at first. They said mother had tripped. But when they observed the mother's injuries, it really didn't add up. Somebody wasn't telling the truth. Eventually they confessed. I think this was a few days after from memory.
