So a good friend of mine and I were talking about how Jim wrote some of his songs like they were a mini stage play. She claimed it would be next to impossible so I asked her to give me something really sad that happened to her and it ended up being a long ago breakup. She said it was particularly hard on her and difficult to accept.
I wrote this out for her only as an example of how inspiration can come from someone's dispair. She has an exceptional voice and I am trying to convince her sing it as well but for now here are the words...
Sometimes it seems
Its more nightmare than dream
Something better than make believe
Making all the right moves
Playing not to lose
Faith in the final leap
Nothing can be as dark
As the secrets of the heart
Or the company it keeps
It takes and it takes
And all the vows it breaks
Misery searching for company
Never sure what we’re looking for
Love never promises more
It never lives up to what it was meant to be
Is it going to be sticking around
Or are we just waiting for the let down
Ready and willing to fall to pieces
Is it here for a limited engagement
Maybe its something you can only rent
Have you got it in you to play wait and see
If dreams come true
And hope came through
Then we wouldn’t need a money back guarantee
That won’t sit well for some
But until that day comes
