| This is a cool new recording of Holding Out For A Hero by a band called Nothing But Thieves. It's slow and gothic. Very different than the Bonnie version. It was specially commissioned by the History Channel to promote their new series Vikings. There are a number of different versions of the Vikings ad but they all use the song and are über cool. This website features one of the ads but not the blood and guts flying everywhere one. The creators of the ad write: Two of us on the A+E UK Creative team had the huge task of launching Vikings Season 2 on History. We had numerous promos to make and on air take over elements, along with key art, print, outdoor, roadside and digi 6 sheets. We commissioned a cover of 'Holding Out For A Hero' by the band Nothing But Thieves to give a hero theme and a dark, edgy twist to a pop classic. This is the 30" edit I put together for on air. | |
