I bought a copy of this play a couple years ago. Jim would have put music to these songs, I imagine.

* Recruiting song
* The song of the scum
* Song of the traveling bar
* Song of the Ganges river
* Song of the Ganges river (Cont'd)
* A man's a man
* A man's a man (Cont'd)
* A man's a man 2
* A man's a man 3
* A man's a man 4
* Little Bill
* The song of the both
* A man's a man 5
* A drunken version of A man's a man
* Recruiting song

The lyric for Ganges river according to this version.

SONG OF THE GANGES RIVER

I was born on the rug in a Dublin snug
And grew up with heroic desires.
In old Ireland’s cause I’d have broken all laws
And perished in Protestant fires.
Yet nowadays I have no wish to die
(Leastways not prematurely)
And when heroes commend a sensational end
I answer them slowly but surely:
Take a look at the Ganges River
As it sweeps from Benares to the sea.
Can I swim against that current? Never.
Who’d even make a stab at it? Not me.
Why should I join you in your derring-do?
I’m happy sitting here admiring you.

Columbus, he did sail the sea.
Lindbergh, he flew above it.
Some fellow soon will set foot on the moon
And more than likely love it.
Now I do not despise the moon in the skies
Or regard it with derision.
But I simply won’t race into outer space:
I shall watch it on television.
Take a look at the Ganges River
As it sweeps from Benares to the sea.
Could I swim against that current? Never.
Who’d even make a stab at it? Not me.
Why should I risk my neck with Colonel Glenn
When I can see it all on Channel Ten?

SONG OF THE GANGES RIVER (CONT’D)

Now I like to read of a doughty deed
Performed by a doughty hero
In a book that proclaims such immortal names
As Genghis Khan and Nero.
And I like to recite the tale of a fight
(Specially a fight that we won)
But though I may sing of a conquering king
I have no desire to be one:
Take a look at the Ganges River
As it sweeps from Benares to the sea.
Could I swim against that current? Never.
Who’d even make a stab at it? Not me.
Why should I help King George commit his crimes?
I prefer to read about them in the Times.
