| I've always felt that Tori Amos (her first couple of records, anyway - I haven't kept up with her, I confess.) was in some way comparable to Jim, but its tough to articulate. I mean, there's the piano thunder, and bombastic flourishes to many of her tunes. A certain darkness and / or desperation, too. But then her lyrics tend to be much more grounded in the real world, as opposed to Jim's fever dreams.
