Bat in Toronto

Saw the show in Toronto last Saturday. TdV is still my favorite Steinman show but BOOH is an excellent runner-up. Haven't listened to the BOOH bootlegs or read a lot of the discussions so it was all pretty much new to me. My highlights in act 1 were "All Revved Up/Wasted Youth" (especially Falco's parts), "Frying Pan", "Two Out Of Three" (Zahara!), the ending of "Paradise" (the new arrangement fits the mood perfectly), "Making Love" and "Bat". In act 2, my favorite numbers were "Heaven Can Wait", "Objects", "Body" and "Anything For Love".

They really shouldn't have cut "Just Won't Quit" and "Good Girls", though. Raven needs those songs for her character development. As others have already pointed out, Raven's not having "dangerous dreams" on dream suppressants, but those opening lines of "Just Won't Quit" could easily be changed into something along the lines of "And I never ever dream anymore, and my life is just the same old routine, still I never get a minute of peace, and I gotta wonder what it means". This establishes her conflict, while "Good Girls" helps her to forget about her doubts. Without those two songs, there isn't much character development for her. Also, I think "Body" should come earlier in the show, and by suggestion of a different Steinfan (Scaramouche I believe), they should add "Loving You's A Dirty Job" as a duet between Falco and Sloane, so that their transition between "Body" and "All Coming Back To Me" becomes less abrupt. Other than that, it was a fantastic show!
