I don't keep track of such things about where the rodents are legal to keep as pets, but there was no clue of a trouble about that in New York City. When I was a yungin' I often traipsed to a favorite department store where they had a pet department and carried both hamsters and gerbils. I wound up getting neither and had friends bragging about their parents letting them have both. That's city living for you.
