From reading the book, Spector certainly looks after #1, and casts away long standing friends & employees, on a whim.
Also, anyone 'fascinated' by firearms, is a dick in my book.
I don't know Jim, but I don't think he comes close to Spector's level of ecentricity.
In terms of production skills, Spector was a genius and originator, and I think Jim has taken the 'style' (everything AND the kitchen sink), to another magical level (certainly not 'cartoon').
In terms of songwriting, no-one comes close to Jim.
Spector was good, but tended to have a lot of 'co-writes', much in the style of Desmond 'I'll have 50% of the publishing, for one chord and three words' Child !!
