The design looks excellent except "The Dream Engine" doesn't really fit in that row. If you put it in the last three, it would also communicate that it's a new project. Besides, nothing much seems to be happening with "The Dream Engine" anyway. > #2) News & Notes, The Bio Page, and a general Vampire > section are all recent - as is danceofthevampires.com - > set to make it apply to all productions. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the other one you set up, www.jimsteinman.com/vampires on Broadway or something. It includes the original press release and "Michael Crawford in Dance Of The Vampires". Then it starts to become something like the rest of the site, chronicling the media hype surrounding the project. It's good, but it seems awkward that it's still there, especially if "Vampires" is now one of the greatest flops in Broadway history. I may consider taking away that section > until things perk up. Or just calling the link "Check > This Out." Good, I suggest you do that. I hope it doesn't affect the design outlay though. > The java line is the Blog link. There's also > a link in News and Notes to the blog. The java line looks like a news update. > #3) I'm not kicking Susan off the webring. Jim isn't > Richard O'Brian but Susan isn't going to scare the > "professionals" away. You've got a grudge with her. I don't carry personal grudges with people, ESPECIALLY people on the internet. Why? I've never even met them. All I'm saying is, if THIS is www.jimsteinman.com, the official website for an artist who has sold over 120 million records, people are going to be a little worried when they find Susan's site. I'm not saying "take the site down!" just, I dunno, look at it. It's full of lies and conspiracies that simply aren't true. Not everyone knows that. I'm a perfectionist for this type of stuff. This isn't personal, nor is it a grudge. I just hate seeing people tainting Jim's already under-rated reputation. One of the finest composers of the 20th century deserves better. But you already know that. We should be on the same side. > #4) I'll fix the two broken links. As you know, external > links change all the time. I always update mine. But I am a crazed perfectionist. > I'm not really sure why I'm even bothering to answer this > post. It seems "nitpicky" more than "reviewy" and, > frankly, not in a very nice spirit. It's called constructive criticism. It's supposed to be ruthless. When I perform readings and workshops of "Don Claude Devious" no one sugar-coats and says "ohhh, it's divine." They get to the heart of the matter, they tell me what needs improving etc etc. Besides, I am the last person in the world who has anything against "Dream Pollution". If it wasn't for you and your site, I wouldn't have learned about "Whistle" and, subsequently, musical theatre which has lead me to who I am today. I just don't want that site to fall by the wayside when it can continually inspire and revise and improve. This is a huge and > active site - with message board, fan mail links - direct > access and input to and from Jim. Except that he hasn't blogged in two months? Not your concern though, nor is it mine. I think the problem is this: blogspot made everyone update their accounts to Google. Jim probably doesn't have a gmail. I also found it fairly complex to update these details. Jim, with his busy schedule, has probably attempted to do this but gotten royally confused. That's why I think he's isn't blogging. In that case, set up a temporary page where you can post notes from Jim? This site, Neverland > Hotel and the JS Temple have spawned and fed every other > Steinman site on the net in some way, shape or form. > Forgive the occasional error or lull in activity. "Dream Pollution" sort of spawned "Bat Out Of Excess" but not the other two. I know "Bat Out Of Excess" was my attempt to consciously improve and do better than "Neverland Hotel" and "JS Temple" which were all brilliant sites in their prime. Now half of "Neverland Hotel" won't even work for me, "JS Temple" is one page promoting "Wuthering Heights" etc. etc. You know I am a ruthless critic. I'm not going to sugarcoat. Listen to everything I say and you'll find that the site may look ten times as better. Besides, if it helps Jim, that can only be a good thing. And if you need any help, likewise, I've always been here R.L. | |
