I am very interested, as I mentioned in that topic, in studying the cultural issuances of stability within Switzerland which has permitted and perptuated such a policy with as much success as it has had. There are two points that concern me, one that the publicity given to Swiss arms policy will serve to undermine it, and two, that the cultural issuances are unique to the Swiss practices over the generations. What I see in the article begs to give an agreement to someone not on this board who gave me the argument that in general the practice of prohibition is a creator of rebellious and thus destructive demand. We see it culturally true in the United States with most every item that is controlled, from drugs to guns. What I know for sure in dealing with the considerations of lawmaking, is that one could negotiate with the sane, but not with the insane, and when social pressures invite small insanities, then you have the problems we face. The question is, how to train those who are standing on the fence of propriety and rebellion, to see the values of that which they can't see? Prohibition is an evil, as is the deaths caused by those who cannot be controlled. Guns are not the problem in a sane society. They are the problem in a society that fosters and encourages ill thinking.
