Don't know about balls cut open, but I did have my knacker-sack cut open quite a few weeks ago and had my vasa deferentia cut and heat sealed (cauterized) Quite a painless procedure once you got past the initial local anaesthetic injection and then telling the Dr he needs to use more anaesthetic because I could feel some tugging.
