I ordered a copy a while back from Amazon - its very cool film. Definately worth a watch, interesting as I can place a little more where the songs go from Tanz now after hearing and using my limited knowledge of German, work out how they all interact to make a 'whole'.

Anyway, I never really understood what made it "the original" and what was the American cut.

Is the animated sequence very obvious at the start? There is, on the version from Amazon (even before the sleigh ride and frozen Professor), the MGN intro with the Lion roaring. This happens once, but then turns into a green Vampire type thing - an animated bit. However, it barely a 'animated sequence' - it isn't on screen for more than like 5 seconds.

The length is 107 minutes. Anyone have anymore hints on what defines 'Polanski version'? I'll examine for evidence :P
