I don't use music software, aside from Audacity and then only very simply, but I do remember reading that Vista has problems with some pro audio software.
The one and only Vista machine I have is only there so we can test the software we produce on it, so we can tell the poor unfortunate customers lumbered with Vista whether our software works with it or not. It was the cheapest Vista machine I could find, with 2GB RAM chucked in. We spec XP Pro for any machines we deliver, and will continue to do so as long as we can.
