The last kind of concept there was for Ryan working with Jim was in 2005, when new, I mistook a trail for a tidbit as he was discussing with Smeg a possible re-scoring for The Confidence Man, and Ryan was discussing about his difficulty in getting good musicians or something, so I suggested he could ask Jim for assistance (guidance, whatever) by sending him an email. Ryan did not come close to working with Jim, and mentioned with Smeg that Jim does not reply to email. In correspondence with Ryan after I left the board (the one reply he sent me) Ryan indicated he never met but that he felt he came close to meeting Jim or anyone on the board. The idea of Ryan working with Jim came at a time when neither Jim nor Meat were discussing any projects and so things seemed dormant for them both at the time Steinman-wise. Jim has in the past worked with fledgling artists and film director/producers with scores, songs, production what-have-you, on the basis of merits of the project and his ability to give out his time to it. It appears that his time is being consumed by his own projects and if he is continuing to work with other artists those are relationships already established. As for Ryan, since 2005 it has been established that of dubious level has been the sincerity of any project he proposed and so it is doubtful that a cohesive request could have been made of Jim. Probably the best way to begin working with Jim if you are a professional, is knowing who Jim is. | |
