Thanks to Pud for a great find! Very good demo, but the vocal sounds almost 'too perfect'. The song is about loss of hope, and I much prefer Erika Christensen's vocal, as there is far more 'character' & 'desperation', and I also love her phrasing on 'is there anything left I can say...' at 1.22 & 3.45. Also Roy Bittan's acoustic grand helps a lot; Patti's version has a midi piano and not as good a player (don't think it's Jim, not his style). Having said all that, it is a demo (?), and I'm sure if she recorded it with Jim, it would sound much better. To hear much better Patti vocals (IMO) check out 'After The Fall' and 'I'll Keep Your Secrets' from Beethoven's Last Night - Bloody Brilliant!! BTW - Aren't the last lines of 'Future' just great: '...the future just 'aint what it used to be, I wish it wouldn't come, I wish it wouldn't come, I wish it wouldn't come, but it always does...' > okay, before you ask - he didn't aslk me to post this, but > it's so great you should hear it.
