| About Me: | My name is Robert but in these Jim Steinman circles I've always used the Italian form of my name. I was born in 1975 and live in Finland. I'll write something about myself here but if you want to know more, visit my homepage. I've been a Steinman fan since 1994 when I heard songs from Bat II. However, the first Steinman record I got was a cassette of the Pandora's Box album. I bought it from a department store at a very cheap price. In 1995 I started using the internet and tried to find more information about Jim Steinman. Somebody asked me to join a Steinman mailing list. This mailing list was an important part of my life for some years. I learnt a lot more about Steinman and got to know some very interesting and unusual people. In 1998 I saw Whistle Down the Wind in London. At the time No Matter What was a huge hit. Two years later I saw Tanz der Vampire in Tallinn. Both were great experiences. Apart from Steinman, I'm a long-time fan of The Beach Boys, Valensia, Serge Gainsbourg, Queen and David Bowie. My other current favorites are Nico, Scott Walker (especially experimental post-70's recordings), Black Sabbath (especially Dio era), Laibach and King Diamond. I listen a lot to opera, especially old live recordings conducted by such legendary conductors as Karajan and Knappertsbusch. My favorite composers are Richard Wagner, Modest Mussorgsky, Giuseppe Verdi, Claude Debussy and Giacomo Puccini. My favorite opera singers are Maria Callas, Gerhard Stolze, Jon Vickers and Josef Greindl. My hobbies are singing (nowadays mostly classical though I'd like to sing rock too), writing songs and articles and giving lectures. |
