Having been a fan of Karine's demos since I was teenager, one of my biggest "what ifs" over the the years is a full album of her singing Jim's songs. But they have to be Jim's done in a style that fits it. Dead Ringer and Braver Than We Are are both albums without Jim's involvement production wise that absolutely fit perfectly, as are Jim's songs that appeared on his non Steinman albums.
I said before on Facebook and on here, I'd love to hear more people doing Jim's songs, but I don't want it to sound amateurish. The Australian tribute concert made by the same people who were making this album is a well meant gesture for sure, but it looks and sounds like a high school cabaret. I'd have probably skipped this album as the previews just did nothing for me, like a royalty free cover of a version of this song that doesn't exist. I commend the guys behind this for their sheer ambition and actually getting Karine to do this but this could have done been a curiosity at best and tarnishing at worst.
