1) About you: My name is Gibson, as you all know, and I have a tendency to exaggerate, as you also all know (Pud, you can stop bringing up the dead chick now). However, my main plans are to make it in theatre or entertainment by any means necessary. (Of course, having learned that entertainment is a very cut-throat business, I'm sticking to innovative new stuff and regional theatre for the most part, unless the right project presents itself).

That said, unlike some people would want you to believe, I actually have spoken to Jim (which, BTW, is how Ryan got his contact info -- sorry, Jim, Ryan and I are friends, cheers), though lately that's not been on my mind due to new projects, with regards to staging Tanz der Vampire in English (preferably with our own Judi's translation), sometimes with blatantly grandiose expectations that would never have panned out, but which I pig-headedly insisted on until I admitted it (okay, Pud, you can stop bringing up the 6 million now as well).

Current status? The rights are in huge legal red-tape right now regardless of the translation used (to the point that for some reason, they are not allowed, by law, to let me know who controls the stock and amateur rights for English productions), but I plan for October 2008, giving the Germans over a year to get their shit together.

Aside from that, at one point, I also offered Jim a position as production music supervisor and composer on a film trilogy based on the "Maeve Chronicles" books by Elizabeth Cunningham (look them up, they're good IMHO) called A Witch's Love Song to Christ (another of the grandiosities that didn't pan out, though I'm still half-heartedly pursuing film rights for some reason), and he's also received several proposals from me for other material, including a Smokey Joe's Cafe type revue featuring his songs (working title is Original Sin).

2) How you found Jim's music: How it really started was that my mum bought Bat I when I was about...five-ish? Anyway, she bought it, I heard it once or twice, but it didn't bounce around my head much (FFS I was five, leave me alone, lol).

When I was about 10 or 11, I got a cast recording of WDTW because I'd seen it hyped up on the web, and I thought it was great, the best work ALW had done in a while. Then I noticed the name "Jim Steinman," found his website doing WDTW searches on Yahoo, and learned a bit about him.

About teenage, having met Ryan and been told to work on Steinman-style material with him, I re-acquainted myself with Bat and fell in love. Then Ryan told me about Tanz and I've been blissfully pursuing it ever since.

3) Have you ever met Jim (details): I believe I've covered that above. In person, no. By phone and e-mail, yes. And I've also learned (grudgingly, over time) to keep a respectful distance. All fans who might get ahold of Jim's contact info (certainly not through me), hear me: do not hound him during sleeping hours (though even I don't know what they are), do not mercilessly pester him for help or he will be even less likely to help you, and do not bombard him with overly long e-mails the size of this post. Keep it short and to the point and he will respond.

4) Favorite song: My favorite Jim songs...so many, too many to list...I like all of Bat, BFG, and Original Sin (the original trilogy, if you ask me), and Bat II a little less so...and of course WDTW sends me up the walls...can I get back to you? lol

5) Your other interests: In musical theatre, I'm very into shows with rock music or elements of rock in them, such as Jesus Christ Superstar (in particular any version featuring the Ted Neeley/Carl Anderson team, official or non ;-)) and Hair.

My other musical influences are very eclectic: The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, Black Sabbath, Pat Benatar, the Darkness, System of a Down, Steely Dan, Natasha Bedingfield, the Isley Brothers, Los Lonely Boys, and much more. Pretty much anything will get me in the mood for anything.

6) Book you're currently reading: None.
