I like some of them. For example David Alden's production of Tannhäuser is totally ridiculous but it really made me feel something. As did Peter Konwitschny's production of Tristan und Isolde. (I saw both on DVD.) On the other hand, I hate the opera productions by Harry Kupfer who is probably the most acknowledged director of modernized opera productions. However, I think that it should always be possible to also see a traditional production. Nowadays that doesn't seem to be possible.
I guess modernized productions should make the old operas and plays easier to understand for today's people. But often they seem to make them harder to understand.

I tried to get one from Hekticket which sells discount tickets to same day's performances. The first day they had only the most expensive tickets left. At discount price it was still expensive. I thought that I would probably get a less expensive ticket another day. I was wrong. It was sold out. The last day I went to Hekticket and asked again if they had tickets. They told me that the show had just started. It was performed earlier that day. I felt stupid.
