Burt Bacharach and Hal David

It would be interesting to note what Jim thinks about Burt Bacharach and Hal David. As a composer, Bacharach is the exact opposite to Steinman in wanting an uncomplex sound but less is more, most of the times. Hal David's lyrics were mainly spot on, and his best are in the same quality league as Steinmans. When David split up with Bacharach, he never quite came up with the goods and from reading an biography, Bacharach, maestro! The life of a pop genius, - publisher Michael Brocken isbn 1 8424 0219 6 it all went pair shaped when Bacharach got more publicity than David as he was married to a famous actress.

What is interesting, which also radiates from the Paul Simon story is the local musical infulences that help the composer in the song writing process. Bacharach was a big part of the swinging sixities London scene. Simon's infulences taken from his time that he stayed in the north of England when he composed some of his most famous songs. Bacharach loved to come to the UK, to work and enjoy the London lifestyle, theatre land... I hope Jim's stay in the UK will be a productive one, if he is over here? Meat Loaf has always reaped the rewards of a fanatically loyal British fan base which he sees regularly, Jim never really worked hard enough to get them on his side. If he had he would almost certaintly would have had greater success in the theatre world. Better late then never!
