I realize you have children and that you don't get home to them the way that you used to, that they miss you and you miss them, and you feel that the period of time is one which is painful. That is what you are able to relate to in the song. In that way, the line has relevance to you.

The song is depressing to me for other reasons. If you find some positive to it which helps you in your life, I am glad for you. But I don't know if a five year old understands your feelings or the song as well as to answer your question about whether or not she disagrees with me.

Five year olds can be highly astute. Jimmy and I were engaged when I was five. It does not exclude the ability to think maturely, but I don't think that an art discussion is the place to find that just at this point.
