No, of course not. But he just has chosen not to be redundant about Wagner. It is much more funny to be redundant about me. And The Chipmunks were important to me at the time he was discussing Wagner, so it was a choice of whether the glass is half empty or the glass is half full. Imagine having a conversation where you are discussing deep classical music and philosophical connections to it as well as to the composer, and being addressed by a little knobby kid female who knows mostly about Alvin and Dave of The Chipmunks, Sing Along With Mitch, and The Truck Goes Around and Around The Town, as musical entertainment? Granted, I did already learn of Wagner's Ring because Jim provided me with both the records and the record player, and I did listen to them of my own volition, but the intellectual levels we were on did not exactly match. When he sang "In The Morning" aka "Inspirational Hymn/The God Game" up to its then-completed point, I was not able to understand it on the level he presented it. Likewise, I was not able to grasp what he meant by "Darker Than Sin" when he mentioned the poem which became "The Invocation" on Pandora's Box. So, as it stands historically, and perhaps at some past times hysterically, a chipmunk is an apt mascot for a blog. With three years of age chronologically between us, and heaven knows how much in actual exposures difference, there was much for me to learn before I could develop the ability to relate with him the things important to him on his level. But God bless him, he loved me. > > And when he says "I don't know Susan", that means "I do > know Susan"? We know each other and don't know each other on different levels for different things. We have so much of ourselves to learn yet. But he knows me, and he's just playing around. Yes, he does know Susan, he knows me. We understand at this point that I mean Cypherd, and as for Steinman we met only once when children. > > Your grip on reality gets ever more tenuous. > There's an anecdote I was thinking of today which I thought I might add in this thread, about a phone call I placed to Jim one evening when I got home from work very ill with a high fever. Someone I didn't know answered the phone "Cypherd House!" and I asked if Jim was there, so Jim came to the phone. I explained the 103 degree fever and asked him if he could get me a two gallon jug of water. He yelled, "I love you when you pull this crap!!!" And hung up on me. But, I knew he was on his way. A half hour later he came with the two gallon jug of water and a grocery bag with three cans of chicken soup (one each of three different kinds) and a bottle of aspirin and a bottle of tylenol. Then he went back to his house where he had some session work to do. I considered myself extremely lucky not just that he was home but that he was also such a good friend to think of those other things for me along with getting me that water. And, it was not at all lost on me that he said he loved me. | |
