The debate over delusion or bullshit is interestingly obtuse, as one could really expect when the issue is not whether there are lies or bullshit, or delusions, but truth.
Where there is truth (that takes some forms of gains away of whatever forms they may have been tangible or intangible, or makes a difference to ones' lifestyles without their actually saying so) there is a war-like defense of that status-quo. I would say that there is a lack of neutrality of one or another origin, and recognition of truth that threatens that.
It is not I who is the bullshitter, but those who are afraid of the fact that I am not the bullshitter.
This is a surprising thread to have found, and I think this is all I could say in it, but I could make some quotes of correspondences (without cut and paste) of some very interesting stories written by John Q. Public "Murray" Kennedy, Gibson's "Press Agent".
