I’m not really sure if anyone is interested in my two cents on this topic, but I’m all for introducing something new to the board.
I agree with JD’s thoughts on keeping track of the IP addresses as an attempt to weed out the ‘crazies’, it may be a tough job, but having to pay to register for RR seems a little extreme.
I’m no wiz when it comes to computer knowledge but what about paying an annual fee to access a part of the board that allows you to have access to things like the NC, downloads, merchandise, first hand information on Jims shows and CD releases and TDE info, even ticketing info for up and coming shows i.e. how much, and where to get them and Steinmeet gatherings.
To register, you pay a fee for 12 months, either via credit card for identification purposes or mailed photo id and get given a password or personalized number to access the area. You can still see the posts as normal and contribute to them as normal.
As far as the merchandising goes, I agree with one of Puddings last comments (from somewhere down the board) of having caps, key rings, t-shirts, mugs etc…
And to save the design costs why not get the fans to design them and Jim can approve them himself.
I’m not talking a whole load of different stuff just 4 or 5 good quality, designed items to get Jim’s name and image out there.
It would give those members of the board who don’t contribute very much in the way of downloads or what ever to give something back to the Steinman Community.
What ever gets designed for the board, belongs to RR and therefore can only be distributed through the board.
