Two huge issues here for me:

1. IDAFL is so NOT a "typical late-80's (huh???) power-ballad." Power ballad? Yes. And Rocker. Typical? Oh no, no way. Late-80's? Nope. Not in the sense that it is from the late 80s, or in the sense that it sounds like the glut of late-80s power-ballads. IDAFL is theatrical, cinematic, operatic, epic, ironic, humorus. So many things that are just not typical of the genre.

2. Meat Loaf is not "over rated." By and large, most anybody with an opinion of him dislikes him. At his best, he was under-rated. At his worst, and now, he is probably rated just right.
