If you're alive at all, you'll even find the song slightly cloying, even tear inducing. But... still a crime nevertheless. You have to admit, the "I'll do anything for love, but ..." gets a person's attention. Listen to 'Paradise by the Dashboard Lights' from the "Bat Out of Hell" album to hear a similar twist at the very end - what seems like a song about sex and rock-and-roll turns out to be a cautionary tale. I even appreciate mediocre music. I'm well aware of rock, folk, industrial, country, pop, heavy metal, jazz, classical, motown music. I swear to God, Meatloaf is the most overrated, trite, untalented, shallow after-school special "musician" to ever record a song. Kidz Bop tops anything he ever did, and this song is arguably one of his worst. Anyone who thinks this is brilliant or deep is a philistine and does not deserve to give his/her opinions on any sort of art. Oh goodness, this song is about him being unwilling to fool around or cheat. Oh boy, it's a revelation. And a "cautionary tale" about sex. Gee wiz, I haven't had those hammered into my head by unimaginative, moralistic automatons since birth. NO All he says is that he wouldnt do "that" for love i hate this song" Actually, the lines just before the chorus always tells what he means by 'that', for example: "But I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life, no way, And I would do anything for love, oh I would do anything for love I would do anything for love, but I won't do that, no I won't do that" Seriously...it's a late 80's power rock ballad, and it excels at exactly what it's meant to be. Here's an example for you: "But I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life, no way And I would do anything for love, oh I would do anything for love I would do anything for love, but I won't do that, no I won't do that" This is a late 80s power ballad and an excellent example of the genre. Over the top arrangement and lyrics telling a story of love and loss. It's pretty clear to me that anyone who says the lyrics don't make sense hasn't paid attention to anything more than the chorus.
